Newspaper Illustrations

I created illustrations for The Scripps Voice (the Scripps College student newspaper) and The Student Life (the student newspaper of the Claremont Colleges consortium, which includes Scripps College) from 2019-2022. Newspaper illustration was a unique challenge for me; I was often given vague concepts to put into images. How do you draw the idea of vulnerability? Or how do you represent an abstract & metaphorical poem?

I got some pretty interesting artwork out of the whole experience. Here are some of my favorites!
